Professional Experience
September, 1992 to Present
Marine Insurance Services/Downer & Associates
Insurance Adjusters Ltd. Midland, Ontario
President. Marine Insurance Services is a division of Downer &
Associates Insurance Adjusters Ltd. This is an Insurance Adjusting firm
specializing in marine insurance claims. We provide marine surveys which
meet the requirements for marine insurance. We also provide damage appraisals
and consulting services for many insurance companies in Central Ontario.
MIS provides damage appraisals and adjusting services for all types of pleasure
craft (including power boats, sail boats and personal watercraft) and small
commercial craft, and marine cargo. Downer & Associates Insurance
Appraisers (another division of this company) provides appraisal services for
automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, trailers
and other types of property. We also have an extensive Marine Seminar
education programme available to insurance personnel.

Coordinator. Temporary position with the Toronto Star, organizing the
annual fishing derby, The Toronto Star Great Salmon Hunt.
January, 1989 to June, 1992
The Llewellyn Group. Morriston, Ontario
Licenced Private Investigator & Security Guard. As Strike
Supervisor, I coordinated security and surveillance photography for labour
unrests. As a Security Officer, I protected a variety of sites using
guard dogs. I am trained in many facets of law & security.

Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC).
Barrie, Ontario
Instructor for the Institute's Associateship program, Georgian Bay
Chapter. I have taught over a dozen Associateship courses to date.
I am currently pursuing my Fellowship with the Insurance Institute of Canada,
majoring in Business Management. In June 2006, I was elected Chair of the
Insurance Institute of Ontario—Georgian Bay Chapter, a two-year term position. From June 1999 to June 2006, I served
as Vice Chair Academic and Education Co-ordinator for the Insurance Institute
of Ontario, Georgian Bay Chapter. In addition, I served as the Treasurer
of the IIO, Georgian Bay Chapter for two years. I also developed The
Associate Board Game as a teaching tool for students of the Insurance Institute
of Canada, which is currently produced for IIC instructors across Canada.
I have recently joined the Institute's Certified Insurance Professionals
(C.I.P.) Society.

Completed the Institute's Associate courses; graduated with an Associate of
the Insurance Institute of Canada (AIIC), specializing in Claims.
1988 to 1992
University of Guelph. Guelph, Ontario
Graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) in
Biology. After graduating, I continued with a second major in
Environmental Protection. As well, I performed independent research on
the development of a new biorational pesticide. I also volunteered much
of my time to the Department of Zoology, in a Master's program studying
endocrinology in gray seals.

Pierce, Florida
Graduated in 1988 with an Associate in Arts degree (A.A.) in Marine
Science. While in college, I was the laboratory assistant to a professor
of biology, and part of my accreditation was for an independent study on marine
plankton.
